01 · Why we built this

The first draft is the slow part.

Estimators we worked with spent most of a bid week measuring siding, soffits, drywall, and trim from plans that were rarely consistent and almost never machine-readable. The judgment work — waste, deductions, sequencing, vendor pricing — got squeezed into whatever hours were left.

Other tools promised end-to-end automation, but the numbers came out unsourced and impossible to audit. So estimators either rebuilt the takeoff by hand or shipped a bid they couldn't defend.

ScopeSift is the version that puts the draft in front of you with the drawing evidence already attached. You stay in control of every quantity that exports.

Takeoffs deserve review

An unreviewed quantity is a guess. We make the review step fast, sourced, and editable instead of trying to skip it.

Plans are messy

Real bid sets have inconsistent labels, mixed scales, and overlapping notes. ScopeSift expects that and flags what is unclear instead of guessing.

Trust comes from evidence

If we can't show you which page a number came from, we don't put the number in front of you. The drawing behind every quantity is the whole point.
